RONDAGAN，ShortBioProfessorofPediatricsandInfectiousDiseasesattheBen-GurionUniversityoftheNegev,Beer-ShevaistheDirectorofthePediatricInfectiousDiseaseUnitattheDepartmentofPediatrics,SorokaUniversity,Beer-Sheva,Israel,apositionhehasheldsince1987ProfessorDaganobtainedhisMDdegreein1974fromtheHadassahMedicalSchooloftheHebrewUniversity,Jerusalem,IsraelIn1982,heembarkedona3-yearFellowshipinpediatricinfectiousdiseasesattheUniversityofRochester,Rochester,NYAmemberofseveralnationalandinternationaladvisorycommitteesandmedicalandscientificassociations,heservedasPresidentoftheEuropeanSocietyforPaediatricInfectiousDiseases(ESPID)from2004to2006andasPresidentoftheWorldSocietyforPediatricInfectiousDiseases(WSPID)from2006through2009ProfDaganiscurrentlythechairoftheboardoftheInternationalSymposiaonPneumococcusandPneumococcalDiseases(ISPPD)ProfessorDaganservesontheeditorialboardofseveralpeer-reviewedjournals,includingPediatricInfectiousDiseaseJournal,Infection,HumanVaccines,JournalofInfectiousDiseasesandVaccineHeisarecipientofmanygrantsandawardsDuringhisprofessionalcareer,hehascontributedover450originalarticles,reviewsandbookchapters,andhaspresentedmorethan500papersatnationalandinternationalscientificmeetingsProfessorDaganhasearnedinternationalrecognitionforhisresearch,whichhasfocusedlargelyonthedevelopmentofnewconjugatevaccines,withparticularemphasisonpneumococcalconjugatevaccines;theunderstandingofhepatitisAepidemiologyandintroductionofhepatitisAvaccines;theepidemiologyofdiseasesthatarepreventablethroughvaccination;clinicalaspectsofvaccinationagainstantibiotic-resistantpneumococci;thepathologyofotitismedia,roleofresistantorganismsinotitismediaandpredictionofbacteriologicalresponsetovariousantibiotics;andtheepidemiologyandpreventionofentericandinvasiveinfectionsinyoungchildren
